The Oh Yeahs music sounds like the lovechild of blink 182, the Angels and Avicii, delivering electrifying, whinge sets built on infectious grooves and relentless energy. Fronted by Blind Mike - whose vision and voice break barriers - the band doesn't just make music, they champion disability inclusion while driving crowds to dance. Recently described as "genre-bending innovators" at local festivals, The Oh Yeahs are all about making punk gigs accessible and thrilling for everyone.
They recently played a killer set at MoshPit in Erskineville, at the Vic On The Park in Marrickville and The Vicar Hotel in Dural. They are looking to line up more shows, happy to open or headline, bring a high-energy set, and always draw a solid crowd.
"Breaking Out" is our most ambitious track to date - a pop-punk gut-punch that fuses the hook-heavy rush of blink-182 with Avicii-style electronic drive, wrapped around the dark, introspective lyricism of Robert Smith.
At its core, the song tells a defiant story of survival. It confronts the trauma of domestic violence, interpersonal violence, teen angst and finding the strength to break free reclaiming their worth, and walking away for good.
Breaking Out blurs the line between vulnerability and bravado giving listeners permission to feel, speak, and to leave. Written as a message of hope and resilience, the track exists to remind anyone trapped in a similar situation that they are not alone - and that freedom is possible.
