Callum Abbiss

Location: Nottingham

Challenge: Autism

Callum Abbiss is a talented singer from Nottingham.

Callum was chosen to perform in Autism's Got Talent after his aunt showed videos of him singing to the organisers. Autism's Got Talent is staged by the Anna Kennedy Online charity and Pineapple Performing Arts School – took place at the Mermaid Theatre, London on the 10th May 2014.

Callum wants to sing professionally, he says "I've been singing since I was about seven or eight and I've been going to karaoke bars around Nottingham about three or four times a week."

Callum's aunt, Sarah Seaton, is chairman of Nottingham autism charity Indigo Kids. She explained how Callum's autism affects his day-to-day life. Sarah says "He's a very sociable young man but he obviously has learning difficulties.

He does have a very good family support network and he's pretty independent now as an adult. It's something he's been able to do as he's got older, with the right support."

Callum has previously tried out for talent shows the X Factor, The Voice and Britain's Got Talent, but was unsuccessful. He says "I didn't get through on the X Factor and The Voice. I got through the first round at Britain's Got Talent, but I missed my callback to go and sing in front of the judges."

Callum is looking for a band from around Nottingham, so he can inspire others with Autism, and get his talent out to a wider audience.
