Brett James was born in the San Fernando Valley of California in the 1970s.

By the time he was 17, he ran away from home to Hollywood to join a rock 'n roll band. Early on Brett realized he could not see like other people- images were distorted and blurry. over time his vision group worse and worse, but this only strengthened Brett's determination to follow his passion for music, and Brett found "work arounds" which allow him to continue to play live music and record to this very day.

Brett says "I play electric guitar and singing a Rock and Roll Band and I play electric bass and sing in a funk and rhythm and blues band. I also play a little drums and KEYBOARDS and WIX home recording in production. I'm going to school to become a recording engineer as well I keep pretty busy with music lol it's my whole life".

Although his vision continues to worsen, Brett continues to soldier on and is active in the Orange County and Los Angeles music scene. "Honestly, I don't know what else I would do with myself", says Brett. "Music has got me through the hardest times in my life again and again. It's not magic, it's not that I have some special ability being legally blind, I just have to work at a little harder than other people".

Brett will release his first solo album of all original music next year in 2023.
